History

55 years in the Brazilian coffee trade, accredits us to a global vision.

"Only those who lived and witnessed the great changes that occurred in the past in this complex and high-risk market, acquired wisdom and experience to obtain economic benefits at the right time and survive to the most critical moments created, not always, by their own wishes."

It was in 1956 the first contact with this fascinating market of the so-called “Green Gold” known at the time as the king coffee, which came to contribute for 70% of the Brazilian exchange revenue.

Mr. Moreira's first contact with the coffee world was at his first job, where on his mission, he had to type the coffee closing bulletins (Arabica and Robusta) in the main stock exchanges (NY and London) and take them to the companies.

After two years he went to work at the biggest coffee exporter, the well-known Marcelino Martins Filho, then an intervener in Brazil, due to the largest Brazilian harvest in years (1958/59, with 44 million bags). In 1960, he was transferred from Rio de Janeiro to Paraná, in the future world capital of coffee, Londrina, already as a representative of Marcelino Martins.

In 1972, already with a strong knowledge in the area and always very entrepreneurial, he decided to start his solo career, leaving Marcelino Martins and opening his own firm: Coffee Commissioner J.Moreira. His innovative work, his pioneering spirit and leadership profile, led him to the presidency of Coffee Trade Market Center of Paraná, where he remained until mid-1979.

Due to the frost in 1975, the market underwent changes, with its awakening in the Minas Gerais region, decimating the coffee culture of Paraná in its entirety. In 1980, Mr. Moreira migrated his business to the promising region of the South of Minas Gerais, being the creator and co-founder of the Coffee Trade Center of Minas Gerais, being its first vice president, which nowadays is the epicenter of the Brazilian coffee trade. In 1985 he was invited to take over the management of Exporters CAFENORTE S/A with its headquarters in Vitoria in Espirito Santo, managing it until 1993.

In 2001, it started a representation of Indústrias Alimentícias Maratá Ltd, headquartered in the state of Sergipe, where in that period it bought thousands and thousands of bags for it, in a partnership that lasted 15 years. Wherever he went, he always cultivated the respect and admiration of all. Currently, Mr. Moreira manages 2 companies and provides consultancy to foreign and national groups that aim to enter the coffee market.

A beautiful tribute

In 2022, the CCCMG held its traditional coffee party, which brings together all the public involved in the commercialization of coffee in Brazil, being one of the most expected parties of the year.
This year, a beautiful tribute and recognition of the work and dedication to the coffee market was carried out, moving everyone present with the presentation of the trajectory carried out by Mr. Moreira and his life story marked by coffee. His family, proud and very happy with the recognition, thanks him, along with Mr. Moreira to everyone who honored him at this very important moment. Here, see the full article: https://cccmg.com.br/homenagem-do-cccmg-a-joao-gomes-moreira/
